ABOUT US

Issues related to engineers have been informally discussed among themselves for a few decades as the numbers of formally qualified engineers began to rise. These discussions pertained to engineering and related practices around the Akurana and surrounding areas. These included civil works, transportation, structures, water resources, air quality, urbanization, and planning. It was commonly expressed that much waste and problems arose in Akurana and surroundings due to a lack of understanding and appreciation for the need for professionalism. As a group, it was felt that it was past time for discussions among engineers to be formalized and to issue statements of interest while collating case studies that exemplify the practices in this area. Thus, the engineers who would be eligible to join the Institute of Engineers of Sri Lanka would form the core. Already, we have a dozen such engineers signed on. In addition, we are interested in those who are interested in regions larger than the Akurana DS area, including the neighboring Pathadumbara, Pujapitiya, Harispattuwa, and Balakaduwa DS areas in the north of Kandy District. To this end of the Engineers Association, Akurana was formalized.
